When I first launched GrowthList in 2018, the website was really different from what it is today.
To be honest, I built the V1 using Wix and I had no way of creating a members area for my visitors.
I knew that if my Product Hunt launch went well, I would have a huge traffic spike in the first few days. But it wouldn't last long.
With no possibility to make my visitors subscribe to access the site, I won't be able to reach them afterwards and make them come back.
So what I did was I asked them to leave their emails to access the tactics with a simple form. And judging by my numbers, it wasn't a bad idea.
In the first 24h, 8.000 people visited GrowthList and 6.400 of them left their email. That's a 76% conversion rate!
This tactic allowed me to grow my mailing list from 0 to 6.400 people in just one day.
Giving away free content is great way to increase brand awareness. But free doesn't mean you can't get anything in return. If your piece of content brings enough value, people won't hesitate to leave their emails to access it.
